Library Media Centre at KV No. 3 Bhopal is an automated library consisting of a collection of 8500 books and multimedia CDs on various subjects ranging from literature to IT. There is one Teacher librarian for each shift and the library functions from 07 a.m. to 06 p.m. Class libraries function for classes I to V. The main library is open to student’s form classes VI to XII. It is fully capable in satisfying the growing needs of children, academicians, faculties and today’s youth. At present the media center is subscribing 40 periodicals for the benefit of its members. This library Media center execute all function based on library policy of Kendriya Vidyalaya sangthan In order to cultivate the interest of students in books and to enable them to utilize the facilities available at the library media center, various activities are organised from time to time. It is indispensable for qualitative education and also promotes the habit of reading amongst the students. The aim of our Library is to enable the school to achieve educational excellence. All Students, Teaching faculty, and other employees of the School are entitled for the membership of the Library. The library follows register system for the issuing and returning of the books for the teachers and card system used for the students and our library also follow e-Granthalaya software for issuing and returning of reading materials. Library Automation Program This media center is a fully computerized automated center using e-granthalaya software for its upkeep. e-granthalaya is the software launched by NIC and is used by all advanced libraries in the country. Library Services and Activities organized by the Library The Library provides various services and facilities to its user namely-Lending Service, Library Orientation, Bibliographic instruction, Assistance Reader, Advisory Service, Provision of General and specific Information, Quiz Competitions, Essay Competitions, Spelling Competitions, Career Guidance and Assistance Reader Club Activities Class Library services etc. The media center is having alibrary committee working under the Principal as chairperson, Librarian as the member secretary, various faculties and student as members. This committee decides on the books to be purchased on quarterly basis. Students give the demand for the books of their choice and need and then on the recommendations of the committee these books are purchased. Suggestion Box The concept of suggestion box is also implemented at the media center using which anyone can give his/her valuable suggestion for the enhancement and development of this media center.
